The bank-account / visa dependency you need to know

Visa first, then bank account

A UAE business bank account at a full-service bank almost always requires the authorised signatory to have an Emirates ID. That ID is only produced after the medical test, biometric capture and residence-visa stamping. Plan the visa immediately after licence issuance so banking is not blocked.

Digital-only workaround

If you need to receive AED payments before the visa is ready, a digital business account may open with a passport and licence. It is a temporary bridge, not a replacement for a traditional corporate account with cheque, trade finance and multi-currency services.

Step-by-step UAE residence visa process for a RAK company

1

Licence and establishment card

The company must be licensed and the zone must issue an establishment card (immigration file). Visa quota is fixed by your office or flexi-desk package.

2

Apply for entry permit

Submit passport copy, photo and application. The entry permit (e-visa) is normally issued in 3–7 working days and is valid for a limited window.

3

Enter UAE or change status

If outside the UAE, enter before the permit expires. If already inside on a tourist or cancelled visa, RAKEFZ arranges an in-country status change to avoid exit.

4

Medical fitness test

Attend an approved medical centre for blood tests and chest X-ray. Results are usually available same day; communicable diseases may require re-test.

5

Emirates ID biometric

Visit an ICP (identity) centre for fingerprint and photo capture. This produces the Emirates ID number and card.

6

Health insurance and labour contract

Employees need a MOHRE labour contract and valid health insurance before stamping. Investors and some free-zone visas require insurance only.

7

Residence visa stamping

The final residence visa is stamped in the passport (or issued digitally). Processing usually takes 2–5 working days after Emirates ID.

8

Open corporate bank account

With the stamped visa and Emirates ID, the authorised signatory can complete account opening at a traditional UAE bank.

Visa contingencies and how RAKEFZ handles them

Entry permit expires before entry

Apply for a new permit or arrange an in-country status change if the applicant is already in the UAE.

Medical test needs re-test

A positive result for certain conditions requires a re-test or treatment certificate. RAKEFZ reschedules and tracks the case.

Passport validity too short

UAE residence visas require at least six months of passport validity. Renew the passport before applying.

Visa quota exhausted

Upgrade the office package or add a flexi-desk to increase quota before filing new applications.

Overstay fines

If a previous visa was cancelled, exit or change status before the grace period ends to avoid daily penalties.

Family sponsorship blocked

Salary and tenancy contract must meet minimum thresholds. RAKEFZ checks both before filing family applications.
